IowaIowa is a state in the Midwest region of the United States. The state is mostly rolling plains, although there are hills in the West near the Mississippi River. Iowa is principally known as an agricultural state, but it does include seven cities with over 100,000 population in their respective metropolitan areas. Some of the major companies that have based their headquarters in Iowa are McLeodUSA and Rockwell Collins, both of which are in Cedar Rapids. Leading education institutions in Iowa include the University of Iowa (in Iowa City) and the University of North Iowa (in Cedar Falls). The main airport in Iowa is The Eastern Iowa Airport which is in Cedar Rapids. Sports teams in Iowa include the Burlington Bees (Midwest League baseball) in Burlington, the Cedar Rapids Kernels (Midwest League baseball) in Cedar Rapids, the Clinton LumberKings (Midwest League baseball) in Clinton, the Iowa Cubs (Pacific Coast League baseball) in Des Moines, the Iowa Stars (ice hockey in the AHL) in Des Moines, and Swing of the Quad Cities (Midwest League baseball) in Davenport.
