New Jersey is a state in the northeastern and middle Atlantic region of the United States. The state is popularly nicknamed "The Garden State", although it appears that nobody is 100% sure about the origins of the name.

New Jersey's largest city is Newark, but the state capital is located in Trenton. Other important cities in New Jersey include Atlantic City, Bayonne, Camden, Cherry Hill, Clifton, East Orange, Edison, Elizabeth, Hackensack, Hoboken, Jersey City, Linden, Long Branch, New Brunswick, Passaic, Paterson, Perth Amboy, Plainfield, Princeton, Toms River, Union City and Vineland.

There are many attractions in New Jersey. These include many wildlife and zoo attractions, amusement/water parks such as Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor (in Jackson), and some excellent museums, such as the Newark Museum (in Newark), and the Paterson Museum (in Paterson). Additionally, if you're ever in Camden, you're sure to want to visit the famous battleship, the USS New Jersey. Finally, if you enjoy winter sports, there are in fact several ski resorts in New Jersey.

Leading education institutions in New Jersey include Princeton University (in Princeton) and Rutgers University (in New Brunswick).

Sports teams in New Jersey include Atlantic City Surf (Can-Am League baseball) in Atlantic City Surf, the Lakewood BlueClaws (South Atlantic League baseball) in Lakewood, the New Jersey Devils (ice hockey in the NHL) in Newark, the New Jersey Jackals (Can-Am League baseball) in Little Falls, the New Jersey Nets (National Basketball Association) in East Rutherford, the New York Giants (American football in the NFL) in East Rutherford, the New York Jets (American football in the NFL) in East Rutherford, Red Bull New York (Major League Soccer) in East Rutherford, the Sussex Skyhawks (Can-Am League baseball) in Augusta, and Trenton Thunder (Eastern League baseball) in Trenton.

(in Basking Ridge), Chubb (in Warren), Goya Foods (in Secaucus), Honeywell (in Morristown), Johnson & Johnson (in New Brunswick), Medco Health Solutions (in Franklin Lakes), Merck (in Whitehouse Station), Prudential Financial (in Newark), Tyco International (in Princeton) and Wyeth (in Madison).

Major airports serving New Jersey include Atlantic City International Airport in Egg Harbor Township, and Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark.
