OklahomaOklahoma is a state located in the center of the contiguous United States. It has been classified as a Southern state, and as a Great Plains state, and shares many regional influences. It is also home to a large Native American population (the 2nd largest of any state). The capital and largest city in the state is Oklahoma City. Other large cities in Oklahoma include Broken Arrow, Edmond, Enid, Lawton, Midwest City, Moore, Norman, Stillwater and Tulsa.
There are quite a few attractions in Oklahoma, including a number in Oklahoma City. These range sites that draw on Oklahoma's rich heritage, such as the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum (in Oklahoma City), to art and science museums such as the Philbrook Museum (in Tulsa) Omniplex Science Museum (in Oklahoma City). There are also amusement/water parks such as Frontier City and White Water Bay (both in Oklahoma City), and if you ever visit Muskogee, be sure to check out the USS Batfish, a former US Navy submarine, that is now a memorial and museum. Some of the leading educational institutions in Oklahoma include Oklahoma Christian University (in Edmond), Oklahoma City University (in Oklahoma City), Oklahoma State University - Oklahoma City (in Oklahoma City), Oklahoma State University - Okmulgee (in Okmulgee), Oklahoma State University - Stillwater (in Stillwater), Oklahoma State University - Tulsa (in Tulsa), Oral Roberts University (in Tulsa), St. Gregory's University (in Shawnee), the University of Oklahoma ("OU") (in Norman) and the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma ("USAO") (in Chickasha). The principal airport serving Oklahoma is Will Rogers World Airport which is in Oklahoma City. Sports teams in Oklahoma include the Oklahoma RedHawks (Pacific Coast League baseball) in Oklahoma City, and the Tulsa Drillers (Texas League baseball) in Tulsa.
