MichiganMichigan is a Midwestern state of the contiguous United States. It is named after Lake Michigan, which it has a shoreline on, but it also has shorelines on three of the other five Great Lakes, as well as on Lake Saint Clair. The state consists of two peninsulas, the Upper Peninsula (U.P.) being separated from the Lower Peninsula by the Straits of Mackinac, the channel which connects Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.
