Iowa FlagHere is the flag of Iowa: (Click here for: More Pictures)
The flag of Iowa contains three vertical stripes of red, white and blue, similar to the French tricolor, although in the Iowa version, the middle white stripe is larger than the other two stripes. This is intended to represent Iowa's history as part of the French Louisiana Territory. The middle white stripe contains an image of the a bald eagle with a long ribbon reading "Our liberties we prize and our rights we will maintain". The word "Iowa" appears in red beneath the eagle. The flag was originally designed by Mrs Dixie Debhardt, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution of Iowa. The flag was officially adopted by the sate in 1921.
