Virgin IslandsThe United States Virgin Islands are a group of islands in the Caribbean. There are four main islands (St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix, and Water Island) as well as many smaller islands. Politically, the islands are an unincorporated organized territory of the United States. The islands were acquired by the United States in 1917, when the US purchased them from Denmark.
