Oklahoma City is the capital and largest city of Oklahoma. As of the 2000 census, its population was 531,324.

Oklahoma City began with the famous "Oklahoma Land Run", of 1889, when 10,000 homesteaders settled in what would eventually become the downtown area in a single day (April 22nd).
