San Antonio Zoo and Aquarium

Blue-Bellied Roller at San Antonio Zoo:

• Africa Live! - Modelled on Lake Malawi and Lake Tanganyika, this exhibit features a variety of African animals. Underwater viewing windows can be used to see African cichlids, hippopotamous, and Nile crocodile. Land-living species include African wild dog, Angola colobus, okapi, rock hyrax, Wolf's mona monkey, and several species of birds.
  
  
• African Plains - A rocky expanse with antelope (several types), marabou stork, ostrich, topi, and zebra.
  
  
• Amazonia - Contains the zoos South American animals and plants. This exhibit includes anaconda, Andean condor, bats, giant anteaters, jaguar, New World monkeys, ocelot, sloths, and various species of birds including scarlet ibis.
  
  
• Cat Grotto - Home to the zoo's smaller cats including black-footed cat, caracal, clouded leopard, and fishing cat. The exhibit is also home to a few species that are not technically part of the cat family, but look similar to cats such as fossa, northern treeshrew, and ringtail.
  
  
• Cranes of the World - A lush environment based around a waterway forms a habitat for several species of cranes including blue crane, hooded crane, Manchurian crane, and whooping crane.
  
  
• Gibbon Forest - White-cheeked gibbon swing on ropes and trees. Beneath them is a river, which actually is home to the zoo's small-clawed otters.
  
  
• Hixon Bird House - A fully enclosed building that provides a home for free flying birds.

• Rift Valley - Home to several of the zoo's larger African animals including cheetah, lion, warthog, and white rhinoceros. You can also see a Bateleur eagle, antelope, dik-dik, and duiker.
  
  
• Toadally - Home to the zoo's amphibians, this building contains caecilians, frogs, salamanders, and toads.
