Independence HallIndependence Hall is an important landmark and historical site in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The building was used as the meeting place of the Second Continental Congress during the American Revolution, and thus the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the United States Constitution, were all signed in the Hall. The bell tower steeple of Indepenence Hall was the original home of the "Liberty Bell". Today it contains a "Centennial Bell" which was created for the US Centennial Exposition in 1876, as well as a "Bicentennial Bell" which was given to the American people in 1976 by Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. The original Libertyy Bell can be found across the street in the Liberty Bell Center. |
