Los Alamos is an unincorporated town in Los Alamos County, New Mexico. As of the 2000 census, the population was 11,909.

Los Alamos is famous for being home to the Los Alamos National Laboratory, where the first atomic bombs were developed during World War II in the Manhattan Project. Since 1993, Los Alamos has had a sister-city relationship with Sarov, Russia, which is the city which lay at the center of the Soviet, and later Russian, nuclear weapons programs.
