Gallup
Gallup is a city in McKinley County, western
New Mexico.
As of the 2000 census, its population was 20,209
Gallup is sometimes known as the "Indian capital of the World". This is because
it lies within an area that is home to many Native American lands, and also because
of the presence of many Native American tribes including Hopi, Navajo and Zuni. As of the
2000 census, comfortably over a third of city's population was of Native American extraction.
