Carlsbad
Carlsbad is a city in Eddy County, in southern
New Mexico.
As of the 2000 census, its population was 27,463.
Carlsbad was originally founded as the town of "Eddy" in 1888. However,
when mineral springs were found in the area, the town changed its named to
Carlsbad, after the famous European spa town of Carlsbad (which lies in what is today
the Czech Republic,
and is today generally known as "Karlovy Vary").
