Florida.
As of the 2000 census, its population was 152,397.
Fort Lauderdale is sometimes known as the "Venivce of America" because
of its extensive canal system. The city is also known for its beaches, bars
and night clubs.
Additionally, according to the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and
Visitor's Bureau, the city is "America's top gay resort area".
