New HavenNew Haven is the 2d largest city in Connecticut. As of the 2000 census, its population was 123,626. New Haven is nicknamed the "Elm City" as historically it contained many elm trees (sadly most are now gone due to Dutch Elm Disease), and was the first planned city (1638) in what is now the United States.
