AspenAspen is a city in Colorado. As of the 2000 census, its population was 5,914. Aspen was originally founded as a mining camp in the 19th century during the Colorado Silver Boom, and was named after the abundant aspen trees in the area. Today, however, the city is a ski resort and cultural center. In recent years, the city has seen a proliferation of second homes, an influx of rich and famous people (for example, Michael Douglas, Kevin Costner and Jack Nicholson).
