Topeka Zoo

Topeka Zoo (formerly Topeka Zoological Park) is a zoo in Topeka, Kansas. The zoo, which is home to over 300 animals, and receives about 300,000 visitors per year, is particularly noteable for containingthe first indoor tropical rainforest exhibit to open in the United States.

Some of the exhibits at the zoo include:

Animals and Man - focuses mainly on small animals such as black and white ruffed lemurs and African crested porcupine, but also contains the indoor house for African and Asian elephants, giraffe, and hippopotamus.
Black Bear Woods - animals from North America including bald eagles, golden eagles, Harris hawk, and Virginia opossum. Within this area are the enclosures for black bears and coyotes.
Children's Zoo - domestic animals including goat and sheeps to feed. There is also a playground in this area.
Discovering Apes - orangutans and gorillas.
Jungle Cats - Sumatran tigers.
Kansas Carnivores - mountain lions and North American river otters
Lion's Pride - African lions (opposite is a separate exhibit with addra gazelle).
Tropical Rainforest - as mentioned above, this is the the first indoor tropical rainforest exhibit in the United States. Features free-roaming birds including Chilean flamingo, scarlet ibis, and scarlet macaw, as well as Hoffman's two-toed sloth, Indian flying fox, and more.
Waterbird Lagoon - three ponds with herons, mallard ducks, trumpeter swans, and wood ducks.
