National Air and Space MuseumThe National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. is the most visited museum in the world, visited by over 9 million people each year. The museum contains information about the history and science of aviation and space flight including many aircraft and space craft. Exhibits include the Wright Flyer used by the Wright Brothers to make the first controlled powered flight in 1903, the Spirit of St. Louis used in Charles Lindbergh's solo flight across the Atlantic, Mercurcy and Gemini capsules, the Bell X-1, the Apollo 11 command module, SpaceShipOne and more. As well as the main museum there is a large annex, the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center located near Dulles Airport, which contains an SR-71 Blackbird, an Air France Concorde, the test space shuttle Enterprise, and the B-29 Enola Gay. |
