Texas Flag

The Texas flag consists of a blue vertical stripe on the hoist side, and a red and white horizontal stripes. Centered in the blue stripe is a white five-pointed star. The shades of red and blue used are the same as in the flag of the United States. According to Texas law, the blue represents loyalty, the white represents strength, and the red represents bravery.

The flag was introduced by Senator William H. Wharton on December 28th 1838, and adopted as the national flag on January 24th 1839 (Texas as an indepedent republic from 1836 to 1845). When Texas became the 28th state of the Union on December 29th 1845, the national flag became the state flag.
