Holiday Publishing Inc Released: 2012-01-09 Kindle Edition (63 pages)
 | | Product Description: An Active Traveler's Guide to Affordable Dining on The Big Island of Hawaii
The Hawaii Restaurant Guide Series got its start ten years ago with a single print release on the top dining options in The Hawaiian Islands. It truly was a one-size-fits-all effort that included the full spectrum of cuisines and prices available across the chain. Eventually the book grew as reviews were added, but the increase in content came at a cost of portability. That's when we decided to divide the work up by county and our first edition became four.
Meanwhile, we watched as a new technology called eBooks evolved on the horizon. For us this was a publisher's dream where we could slice and dice our subject matter into any number of categories and expand or contract the content at will. Compared to the cost and effort inherent in print books the eBook formats promised boundless freedom and creativity. Well, it might have taken ten years, but eBooks and eReaders have finally come of age.
Our original concept involved developing a dining A-List covering all price ranges. That allowed us to report on everything from resort dining rooms to family-owned establishments but limited our reach into the neighborhoods. We wanted to include the better mom & pops so we expanded our criteria to an A/B-List. Even then some cultural dining icons fell through the cracks, but thanks to eBooks we found a way to deliver this, our best for budgets!
This eBook was designed with smartphone viewports in mind. The entries have been condensed to fit the small screens found on the devices most of us carry around as a matter of course. Look on the lounge chairs near any pool in Hawaii and you'll see portable phones everywhere. People may not carry a stack of guidebooks or an expensive tablet with them, but that phone has become a "must have". Give Kindle for smartphones a try - it travels well!
